So Who Am I & How Can I Help You?
Hi my name is Charlie!
I was fortunate to come from a musical family, but don't worry, that's not a requirement to become good at guitar at all.
I have had a love for the guitar since listening to classic records at my grandfather's side as a small boy.
Taking up the guitar at age 10, I was fortunate to study with a fine jazz teacher and player and jumped into the studies with abandon. By age 14 I had played my first professional gig, and by age 20 had toured the United States. After 2 years of touring I knew life on the road was not for me; but my love of music and playing guitar has never diminished and is in fact now stronger than ever.
In the last couple of decades, I've had the opportunity to study with multiple world class and famous guitarists...I've also taught thousands of aspiring guitarists from around the world.
That's where my gift for teaching comes in and how I can help you.
I specialize in two areas of teaching to help my students.
One is the ability to take complex subject matter and explain it in as many ways and levels as is necessary to help someone understand it.
The second it the ability to distill the essence of my decades of learning into the truly fundamental steps required for other budding guitarists to make quantum leaps in their skill and enjoyment.
I have a deep and special love for the Blues and Blues Guitar.
Teaching people to enjoy and play the blues is something I get so much joy out of – because I know how much fun and joy THEY will get out of it in return. It's a musical form that can be both mourning or a party... the cries of a broken heart or the robust celebration of life and good times.
Seeing my students gain the proficiency to experience all of those things through their guitar is something that I find almost too precious for words!!!
